Thurston County District Court Position 2 ![]() When choosing a candidate for District Court Judge, the most important two things to consider are experience and fairness. No candidate for the Thurston County District Court Position 2 has more experience than Ken Valz. When announcing his candidacy Ken said, “No one can replace Judge Kip Stilz. But I believe that the public wants the new District Court judge to have as much legal and courtroom experience as possible. I have those years of experience.” Ken worked as the Senior Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Thurston County District Court starting in 1980 for former Prosecuting Attorney Patrick D. Sutherland. Ken later went into private legal practice and served as a Pro Tem Judge in both Thurston County District Court and the City of Olympia under the supervision of Judges Rick Strophy, Dan Berschauer and Christine Pomeroy. Ken Valz has also been active in local politics and served as the 3rd Congressional District Obama Caucus Chairperson at the Democrat’s recent convention in Napavine. Ken has a wide community activity background that includes past service as the co-chair of the Tumwater School Bond campaign, as a Methodist Church bible school teacher and in the Rotary campaign to help stamp out world wide polio. Ken says that he looks forward to the campaign and a process that is fair and results in the election of a qualified Judge who can continue the work of deceased Judge Kip Stilz. |
